Cosford Jubilee Pageant

On the 12th July I drew live caricatures at Cosford Jubilee Pageant, which the Queen and Duke of Edinburgh attended. 37,000 people were there and it felt like they all wanted a caricature. It was a manic day with six hours of non-stop caricaturing. The best comment about a drawing was "it's good quality paper". The royal guests didn't make it into the exhibition hangar, which is probably just as well; my display banner includes a painting of the Duke with his foot in his mouth. Plenty of people got great quality caricatures, and the Queen waved at me. She probably heard about the paper quality.

50th Birthday Live Caricatures

Caricature at opening Event

Last weekend I drew people at the opening of the magnificent Beauty Rooms in Ashby!
As well as plenty of the guests, I was asked to do a group caricature of the staff. Getting everyone sat together like that is technically quite a tricky thing to pull off, even without the pressure of a crowd watching. There's no pencil work involved; it's straight in with pen. I rewarded myself with a congratulatory glass of champagne.. It's A3, and took maybe 25 minutes.

I was also caricatured by the salon owner in return! (No, I wasn't burning; it's the pattern on my floral shirt.)
